Solar System Images
This sequence of images was taken using a full aperture solar filter made from alumunised mylar film. This was mounted in front of the corrector plate of my 90mm Maksutov telescope. The sequence was started at 17:12 UT and ended at 18:56 UT. Exposures were typically of 1/125 second on 100 ISO Kodak film. Some of the individual solar images are affected by thin clouds. Some sunspots are visible on the original images.
This sequence of images shows the last total solar eclipse of the millenium. Although only partial from Manchester it was spectacular all the same. A full aperture solar filter made from alumunised mylar film reduced the light intensity to a safe level. This was mounted in front of the corrector plate of my 90mm Maksutov telescope. The sequence was started at 10:45 UT and ended at 11:20 UT. Exposures were typically of 1/125 second on 200 ISO Kodak film. Some of the individual solar images are affected by clouds.
The 90mm Maksutov telescope was used for this sequence of lunar eclipse images. The eclipse began on December 9 1992 at 22:00 UT and ended on the December 10 1992 at 01:28 UT. Totality lasted from 23:07 UT on December 9 until 00:21 on December 10. Exposures were typically of 1/125 second on 100 ISO Kodak film. Although this sequence is in colour, due to the short exposures used (my clock drive was not working !), I was not able to capture the colours that were visible with the naked eye.
