Hot Air Ballooning
The following pages illustrate the 1997 Northampton Balloon Festival. Over the weekend of 15,16 and 17 August 1997, a large number of balloons filled the skies twice a day. The following pictures were obtained on 15 August 1997.
During early Friday morning we were lucky enough to have an hour long flight in the Virgin balloon as part of the mass launch. This was large enough to carry 12 passengers as well as the pilot.

Later on Friday afternoon, a second mass launch took place, with a larger number of balloons taking to the skies. Every direction one looked balloons were being launched. The whole effect was extraodinary.
