Skiing

A few images showing some of the best ski resorts in the World. It costs a bit to get there, but its well worth it.

Grindelwald, Switzerland, Feb/Mar 1990

We arrived in Switzerland during one of the periods of snow drought. Our first couple of days were spent trying to negotiate narrow strips of slushy snow with large patches of bare ground on either side. Luckily the snow arrived and following two days of blizzards we had enough to last the rest of the holiday. These were after the snow had stopped falling.

Breckenridge, Colorado, USA, Feb 1993

Breckenridge town lies at 9600 feet above sea level. The slopes rise up above the town to an elevation of 12998 feet. It boasts some of the highest skiing in North America and has guarenteed snow.

Steep and Deep

Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, Feb 1996

Cold, is the best word to describe Lake Louise. However, the snow quality was the best I've seen so far. It is located amidst stunning scenery.

What a view

Vail, Colorado, USA, Feb 1998

Some images of the huge Vail ski area. This has to be one of the largest ski areas around. Plenty of space with only a few queues at the lifts on weekends. We met a couple of good skiers from the South of England - Lee who likes soil, and Jo who likes to take a lot of air (the next stage is to practice successful landings though!!).
